The discipline of geography has become more popular among the science students who are opting for it in a large number due to its application in various fields of life. We considered teaching to be a key component of a candidate’s academic development. Latest courses are being taught in geography to the under graduates like “Remote Sensing, Computer Cartography, Aerial Photography, Environmental Geography, G.I.S. etc. ”The Department is currently offering BSc. Geography elective course with following combination of subjects: Geography-chemistry-mathematics, Geography-geology-mathematics, Geography- Computers-mathematics, Geography-zoology- Botany, Geography –Geography- Electronics The students are engaged in different academic activities other than routine tests and Internal Assessments in both theory and practicals. Every year the department organizes quiz competition and occasional guest lecturers about geography in general which helps them to appear in different competitive examinations, job purposes We also take the students on one-day subject tours so that they practically observe and understand the subject in the fields. ‘Physical’ as well as ‘Socio- Economic Surveys ‘are done by the students in the fields and then they prepare a report of the same.

The teaching faculty is young, energetic and dynamic comprises of four staff members (regular and academic arrangement) is committed to impart high quality education and research in an agreeable ambience to shape the future of students on its rich repositories of fame and prestige. Department of geography has fully equipped laboratories and experienced non-teaching staff including 01 lab assistant and one lab bearer which play a very important role in the smooth conduct of laboratory work.

Since the department is progressing from staff and student’s point of view, there is a lot of interaction and intimacy between the two. The Department is always striving hard to make it a centre of excellence. The future plan is to start a P. G. course in the Department for which we need a better infra-structure.
