About us
The department of biotechnology at G.G.M Science, Jammu was established in 2006 to contribute the intriguing & rapidly growing field of biological sciences. At the moment, It only offers undergraduate (B.Sc.) academic programme.
The vision of the Biotechnology Department is to provide the students with an education that establishes a strong foundation and appreciation for understanding the development in the rapidly advancing field of Biotechnology, to develop technical and critical thinking skills required for success in the field, to foster ethical behaviour and to promote outreach.
The major thrust areas of department includes molecular biology, microbiology and immunology. Apart from basic conceptual knowledge, the department attempts to provide the practical and real time exposure of Biotechnology sector to the students.
The main objective of the BSc Biotechnology course is to educate the aspiring Biotechnologist by providing them with a solid foundation of basic theoretical and practical knowledge. Focus is also given to acquire sophisticated expertise in Biotechnology for a diverse set of occupations. Graduates with a bachelor's degree in biotechnology will be able to pursue advanced studies, research and development, and management in the field, as well as work in a variety of biotechnological industries.
